Protect Your Eyes From UV Radiation

The sun is the only natural source of light in this world. The sun emits ultra violet rays apart from its light. These rays are not visible to our eyes as they are in the invisible frequency range. These UV rays are harmful to the living beings.

To prevent this from affecting the earth, the ozone layer in the atmosphere absorbs most of the UV radiations from the sun. But a percentage of UV rays penetrates the ozone layer and reaches the lower level of atmosphere. This minimum percentage of UV rays causes dangerous effects on all living beings. Due to global warming, the hole in the ozone layer is becoming bigger leading to a higher percentage of UV rays reaching the earth.

All uncovered parts of our body are exposed to these harmful rays when we step out of our house. To protect our skin, the skin experts are strongly recommending the application of sunscreen lotions on all exposed parts of the body before going outdoor. The SPF factor of the sunscreen lotions you apply should be at least 15 and greater for fair complexions.

The most tender and the most exposed to sunlight are the eyes. We need to protect our eyes from these UV rays in order to have good eyes' health. It is for this reason that eye experts advice us to wear sunglasses when we go out.

The sunglasses you wear must be able to block at least 90% of UV rays. There are two types of UV rays - UVA and UVB. The sunglasses should block both of these rays to protect our cornea.

Also the size of the lenses must be greater than the eyes. The UV rays can reach your eyes from any side of the lens. The wrap-around sunglasses provide maximum protection by covering the sides of the eyes too.

It is our responsibility to take care of our health. So use sunscreen lotions and sunglasses to protect your body from harmful UV radiation.
